LEEDS, UK 8th January 2004 - Luminary Solutions, a new
technology company launched in September 2003, has doubled in size
to 12 people and moved to state-of-the-art offices at the New
Technology Institute, West Yorkshire.
Luminary has won a significant contract for a government
department to assist in the modernisation of their legacy systems.
In addition, Luminary's growing pipeline of work means that they
have brought forward their expansion plans and they aim to
employ 20 people by the middle of 2004.
Luminary has been assisted by the services of Leeds Metropolitan
University Business Incubator, a service dedicated to nurturing new
businesses during the early stages of their development. This included
an initial office suite and access to specialist mentoring and legal
services. It was through the incubator that Luminary contacted NTI
West Yorkshire when it needed to expand.
NTI West Yorkshire is a partnership of universities and colleges,
aimed at providing high quality support and development programmes at
affordable prices to businesses in the region.
Neil Warnock, founder director of Luminary comments: "It was crucial
that everything came together as quickly and successfully as possible.
We were fortunate that the New Technology Institute (NTI) West Yorkshire
was able to provide first class accommodation and infrastructure at a
very competitive rate. NTI definitely helped to reduce the risk
normally associated with moving premises."
Warnock added "The concepts behind the LMU Business Incubator and
NTI West Yorkshire are excellent. The support they offered us as a
new business has been magnificent."
"For us, the arrangement is mutually beneficial," says Linda
Broughton, Head of NTI West Yorkshire. "Luminary has the space it
needs and we're expanding our range of contacts for potential
future partnerships."
Luminary is a systems integration company that combines existing
corporate systems to produce new, integrated applications delivered
to multiple display technologies - such as browsers, PDAs and
mobile phones.
The template architecture developed by Luminary ties together
different data sources and application sources and presents it to
new back office and mobile interfaces. The architecture provides
secure and efficient access to underlying databases and applications,
whilst existing operational systems remain unchanged.
In addition, the company works with Computer Associates (CA),
one of the largest software companies in the world, to provide
services to the worldwide installed base of Ingres RDBMS and
OpenROAD customers.
