Past Projects - past successes...
Luminary has an outstanding heritage and track record. The team are both individually and collectively well known in the IT Services marketplace and have contributed to numerous complex system integration projects, delivered to time and to budget. Over four hundred in fact, from a one week individual assignment to a ten developer managed build project. These have been cross sector, encompassing Retail, Logistics, Utilities and Finance.
While there are many examples, some of the more notable ones are detailed below:

Freemans Grattan Holdings (FGH) Ltd - Multi Channel Tactical Enhancements Project
FGH is a member of the Otto Group, which is the largest home shopping group in the world and the world's number two in B2C online trade, second only to Amazon. FGH's business is conducted via its websites and mail order catalogues. Information Technology is crucial to the success of the business, enabling it to provide exceptional customer service, as well as staying "one-step-ahead" in an extremely competitive industry. FGH has a wide and diverse customer base and, as a consequence, hosts many branded websites designed to appeal to specific customer demographics (these brands include Freemans, Grattan, Oli and Kaleidoscope). These websites have evolved separately over time and the Multi Channel Tactical Enhancements Project was put in place to introduce common elements that could be re-used throughout all of the websites.
Luminary worked within one of FGH's teams on these tactical enhancements providing project management and technical resource. The common functionality developed included enhancements to the checkout process and new website features and page layouts, giving an enhanced customer experience and improvements in operational efficiency.

Office of the Revenue Comissioners - Management Information Framework
The Office of the Revenue Commissioners is responsible for the collection of taxation revenue in Ireland. The constantly changing data, data sources and targets within the revenue made it impossible to see one true, up to date picture in terms of management information that could be reported to the Irish Government. The imminent de-centralisation of the department added to the complexity of gathering the required management information.
Luminary delivered the Management Information Framework (MIF), an implementation
of Luminary's Corporate Performance Management Solution, as a phased system
integration project, combining the existing data sources and applications. It is
'meta data' driven and allows browser based access to management information
through a simple and easy to use Graphical User Interface (GUI). more

Indesit Company (UK) - Enhance existing service engineer support systems
Indesit has a vast post-sales support organisation that ensures prompt and efficient customer service for kitchen appliances. Service engineers are supported by state-of-the-art wireless communication applications that ensure efficient allocation and processing of customer service calls.
When Indesit needed a new service engineer support system for their business in Italy, Indesit decided to adapt and re-use their existing UK systems. This would avoid the costs of a new development by exploiting systems that had proven to be flexible, robust and scalable. However, the Italian business had a wide range of different requirements to the UK.
Luminary provided a managed team that undertook a range of enhancements to the
existing service engineer support systems. These enhancements delivered new
functionality and integrated closely with the existing Italian SAP systems. more

Axiell - Strategic Service Oriented Architecture (SOA)
Axiell is a leading supplier of technology to libraries, archives and museums in the UK. Although a prior project to upgrade the legacy ingres ABF applications to OpenROAD had been well received by customers, the Development Director was looking for a new strategic architecture that would form the basis of future development and enhancements. This architecture would need to streamline costs, remove duplicate code streams and simplify software delivery.
Luminary proposed and built a Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) that could be updated incrementally, allowed for code reuse and the integration of multiple technologies and user interfaces, and also exploited third party services. Luminary went on to deliver a system, utilising a common set of Services being used by a web application, a PDA-based application, and standard Windows clients.

US Defense Agency - Migrated legacy applications into the 21st Century
User departments were pushing IT to move away from traditional green screen systems to new browser based technology fit for the 21st Century, but they had 35 applications, representing 10 years of departmental development time, to be upgraded while preserving the business logic they embodied. The goal was to refresh the look of the systems in the eyes of the users, make them easier to use, and allow the applications to be delivered through a browser.
Working with two US technology companies, Luminary formed part of a virtual team
based in four countries. Luminary's team of seven technical specialists was
deployed as a managed unit within the project and spent over seven months
working to successfully migrate these applications to a 3-tier, browser-based
architecture. more
